IT CHANGED MY LIFE

I am excited to share with you my latest interview:

Sergio Bambaren writing of books changed

Has the writing of books changed your life?

It has changed my life completely, for the best. I never imagined there were so many people around the world questioning their own lives as I was doing with my own. And that gives me hope that we can make a better world, for all.

Which book had the biggest effects on your life?

I guess all of them. They are all true stories, with a bit of fiction. Lessons that life has given me, and that I share with my readers. Their e-mails are the biggest present I can get!

What is your daily routine, if you’re writing? Which effects have deadlines on the creative writing process?

That’s what I love the most. I don’t have a daily routine. Every day is a new adventure to discover. In some way, I recovered my life. I decide what I do with my time. Sometimes, far from the madding crowds in the middle of Nature. I don’t remember what day is, or what is the time. And I just flow with the tides of the ocean and the change of seasons.

I normally write at night, in the quietness of my solitude, with a sky full of stars and the ocean in front of me. Inspiration is like melancholy. You never know when it’s gonna come. Deadlines have never been a problem. If I write what my heart speaks to me, there is no deadline at all.

Why do you write about animals in your books? Are the animals in your books metaphors, or do you think about their real circumstances in our society?

All animals and creatures I write about are real. I swim with whales and dolphins, a little wild fox called Chiqui comes and goes around my home, the turtles, the crabs, they are all real. Nature always gives back more than what it takes, so most of the things I’ve learnt in life come from Nature. I cannot compare them with human society. Animals don’t feel greed, envy, vengeance, hate. They just flow with life itself.

Do you think the dominant relationship between human and animals needs a change? If so, how should that change be?

I am vegetarian, so I can speak with consequence. Life is precious to me, be that of an ant, or an elephant. We should respect Nature and learn from it. The same way we should respect each other for who we are. Cruelty to animals, even trees, is something I cannot understand, so I try to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves.

Do you think the mass industry is a problem?

It’s the biggest cruelty of all. Just as the world finally turns into a big shopping-center, we feed animals just to eat them. It’s funny how in our Western society, we adore a panda bear or a dolphin. But a cow? That’s just meat. I will never understand this way of thinking. For me, all life is sacred.

What is the main massage of all your books? Can dreamers change the reality?

Life made me a writer. I write simple books with a different lesson or message on each of them.

Can dreamers change the world?

Dreamers are those who change the world! Quoting Albert Einstein: “The only thing that has hinder my dreams and my imagination is my education.” If not, Steve Jobs (Founder of Apple) said the same, and never went to school. We have to teach our children to believe in their dreams.

Dreamers are normally called “people who don’t live in the real world.” But what is the real world? What the majority think or do? I do speak with animals, and suffice to me that I know it’s true. Once you free yourself of all the dogmas we have been taught to believe in, suddenly the word “impossible” is meaningless. Everything is possible, even talking with animals…at least that I know. If I can do it, anyone can do it, if they are willing to leave the “safe” zone and fly towards their dreams…and once you see it can be done, it just seems so natural, but again, a very fine-line to understand.

Thanks for all! ….a dreamer…
