When I was born, I wanted to change the world. Now, I feel blessed that the world wasn´t able to change me. When I was 34 years of age, I sat on a rock in front of the ocean, smiling, and said: “God, if you want to take me right now, it´s OK, because I have lived a hundred lives in the spam of one.”
Life works in strange, but wonderful ways!
I learned early in life that the most important thing I could make of this amazing adventure that is living was to find the true purpose of my life, the main reason for which I came to this planet we call Earth, and I found it. Being a Chemical Engineer by career, life turned me into a full time international writer, maybe because I chose to listen to the voice of my heart, instead of listening to society and those who always hammered in my mind that being rich and successful would give me a happy life.
Nothing further from the truth. For I found in Nature, especially swimming with dolphins and whales and surfing through the entire world, looking for the perfect wave the true essence of what my mission was. To share my thoughts that come directly from my heart without passing through my mind with so many people around the world and tell them what life had taught me when I decided to take the road less travelled and build my own trail. That we should live, not exist. Giving is always better than taking. That it is better to be, rather than to have. And if you have, to share it with those who were not as lucky as me.
But most important than everything else:
That it is so simple to find true happiness. The only thing you have to do is to stay simple through a lifetime. To never forget the child, we once were and keep that naivety and dreaming the impossible for the rest of our life.
Which brings me to what I want to do with the rest of my life. I am 60 now, and every single day of my life has been a gift I should feel honored for. I still surf, swim with dolphins and whales. I´ve circled the world three times.
I´ve seen it all.
The voice of my heart is telling me that it is payback time. Giving, without asking anything in return. The most wonderful gift I can get. Not just alms, but part of what I need to live.
The world is changing so fast. We are witnessing a new revolution of technology and discovery that we could have never imagine just a decade ago. Globalization is here to stay. But from my humble point of view, we messed it up. In this crazy race of having the last state-of-the-art cellphone, or having the biggest house, the best car money can buy, we forgot our humanity and by doing so, we have harmed Mother Earth almost to a point of no return. The climate change is a reality. Who thinks the contrary is totally wrong. We have taken much more than what this planet can give us. Our lack of humanity has taken wild animals out of their habitat so we can eat them as “delicacies.” Sooner or later we had to make a mistake. And Covid ravaged our world that came to a stop, with financial and health issues that we are still coping with. And when we thought that we were finally getting out of the mess we humans placed ourselves in, a war that is bringing a famine to many poor countries has complicated everything more.
Is it that we will never learn?
We are always running, always in a hurry doing “important” things. We compete with each other, forgetting decency and fair play. Corruption is like another virus spreading around the world. The signs are there that if we keep going this way, we will arrive to a pint of no return. The clock is ticking…
If you are not part of the solution, you definitely are part of the problem. The only thing that evil needs to prevail is that good, decent human beings do nothing.
I will never give up. That´s a promise I have made to myself. Until the day arrives for me to leave this planet.
So let´s put our words into action. Let´s dream again. Let´s start to believe again in a better world. The power of one, multiplied by the power of millions. I have decided to relaunch my books worldwide, because I believe that the world needs them more than ever. We need to dream again, and to remember that nothing lasts forever. I am a true dreamer for which the word impossible is just a creation of humankind. Get out of my comfort zone and make the impossible possible. I have done it before.
It is the will of the heart that decides our destiny.
Because to create a better world, we must not only act, rather also dream and not only plan, but also believe. Through my Foundation and the ones I will create, I will try my best to make humanity aware of how we are destroying our planet and the wonderful creatures that dwell in it.
- We have to go back to the basics: materialism will never bring happiness, but a life with financial peace of mind in which we only owe the things we really need will make a world more just.
- We have to learn to respect Nature once again, for we are part of it, and not its owner. We have to lose that fear of fear that only exists in our minds, persevere, and never give up. If we build it, many will come. Many human beings have realized that the system we live in now has come to a dangerous limit.
Finally, it´s been many years that I accepted that dying is just part of living; and when you make your own peace with death, that´s when you truly start living.
I will persevere all my life. A promise is a promise. For my word has always been more important for me than my signature.
